Quick and cost effective ways to update your bathroom, without a full renovation.

With the cost of living being as it is at the moment, it is hard to save money for luxuries like a bathroom renovation, and with interest rates continually hiking, it’s understandable that you might be baulking at the thought of borrowing more money for the cost of a reno.

With that in mind we have pulled together our suggestions of quick and cost effective ways to update your bathroom without the expense of a full renovation.

1) Give your tiles and grout a really good clean and replace any stained or mouldy silicone

Dirty and discoloured tiles, mouldy grout, and old, stained silicone makes your bathroom look old and unkempt. There are some great products on the market that can help you to get your tiles and grout looking like new, and removing your old silicone, and replacing it with fresh new silicone will go a long way in making your bathroom look like new!

2) Clean and paint your walls (and possibly even your tiles)

Giving your walls and ceiling a really good clean will often make your bathroom look much fresher and brighter, you’ll be shocked by the amount of dust, hair and mildew you remove. Once your walls and ceiling are clean and fresh, you’ll be able to get a pretty good idea as to whether a lick of paint would help to bring your bathroom back into the 21st century.

Did you know that there are also a number of paint products available for painting over your wall tiles too. So if you are tired of the 90’s, under the sea themed tiles, paint over them!

3) Swap out your dated fixtures and fittings with new, modern ones

As bathrooms age, and fixtures and fittings requirement replacement, often fixtures and fittings become mismatched and dated. A great way to modernise and update your bathroom is to replace all of your fixtures and fittings with modern matching ones. Try updating your taps, towel rails and toilet roll holder for a new modern look.

4) Last but not least, update your windows

For a really finished look, you can’t go any further than updating your window coverings. Nothing quite dates your bathroom like a faded or filthy blind. Try replacing your blind or even consider updating your bathroom window with fresh white, traditional timber or trendy black shutters.
